French Tutor

2013 - 2018

 

I have been teaching IRL and online since 2013. I started as a tutor in a language center in Malaysia but quickly moved to be on my own, finding the singularity of a sole program for all suffocating. I now do my best to teach to each individual specifically according to their needs, strengths, and weaknesses.

 

 

French Proofreader

2014 - present

 

My long experience with reading and passion for linguistic eventually drove me into proofreading. This allows me to collaborate with others on their project, learn and be part of a teamwork effort to bring new things to the world. Be it Master theses, novels, websites, articles, there's always a new venture around the corner.

 

 

English to French Translation

2014 - present

 

I started translating at the same time as proofreading. I love being able to bring into my Native language a foreign story, idea, concept, and curate it to Native readers. Translating is creating a bridge between two worlds, and finding the best way to translate a concept from a language to another is always an exciting challenge.

Cook - team manager (Canteen - Catering) 2014-17

I started as a commis, learning complete basics, cutting technique, cleaning, rules and safety measures, etc. to moving up and basically keeping track of stocks, refurbishing, cooking main meals, leading staff in the canteen or during catering events.

Hotel & spa reception in Damas suites and residences- 2013

Providing receptionist & concierge services in Kuala Lumpur.

Hostel Manager - 2018 & 2019

Manager of a 50+ beds hostels in the center of Istanbul, during one short season (2 summer months, 2018) and then 7 months in 2019. Main missions involved managing volunteers, creating a strong company spirit and good teamwork, teaching jobs, but also checking in guests, welcoming, helping them during their stay.

Chalet cook - Winter 2018-19

First cleaning, commis missions, and then, I moved to work fully in the kitchen, under the supervision of the manager, but most of the time, prepping, cooking, dressing each dinner. (15 to 40 p.) 

​

I have also worked in other fields or projects, I cooked in a restaurant, worked in a luxury gift shop or online as a Virtual Assistant, for instance.

2010 - 2013

 

At 17 years-old, I went to college, in the attempt to learn English, spend some time until I was old enough to apply to my dream journalism school in Paris and became a reporter. 

I learned a lot during this time, but mainly that spending years in school for a job I would spend the rest of my life was of no interest to me.
